When to soft wash, when to pressure wash, and why the difference matters for your siding and roof.
Pressure washing uses water at 1,500–4,000 PSI to physically blast dirt off hard surfaces — great for concrete, asphalt, and pavers.
Soft washing uses low pressure (under 500 PSI) combined with biodegradable detergents to kill algae, mildew, and mold at the root — the correct method for siding, roofs, stucco, and painted wood.
Using pressure washing on siding or roofs is one of the most common mistakes we see. It drives water behind seams, strips paint, and damages shingles. If your vendor is putting high pressure on your siding, fire them.
